Travel Lite Inc. enters the Trailer market with their new “idea” ultra-lite towable in 2011. They have been producing truck campers for the past 15 years. The president of Travel Lite, Larry Johns, along with his son Dustin and Dustin’s wife Lindsey, had most of their camper production team in place and they are guiding Travel Lite through the economy. Travel Lite is the largest high-class manufacturer of hard-side truck campers in the Midwest.
With the ultra-lite market growing significantly, Travel lite feels that they can design a trailer that would stand out. They have a reputation as a company that always goes a step above, in the truck camper sector, and so they wanted to reproduce that in the trailer market as well. The “idea” trailer was introduced December 2011 with three 15-17 foot ultra-light floorplans. The dry weight of the 15 ft. is 2,550 lbs. with gel coat fiberglass sidewalls on lightweight banak wood substrate, and it has a molded front cap to increase aerodynamics.
Travel Lite has their own fiberglass shop which helps to create some unique molds for their idea trailer. Standard features for each Travel Lite trailer are a high-gloss gel coat exterior, a custom molded gel coat front cap, aluminum mag rims, a 13 foot awning, air conditioner and luxurious kitchen and dinette area. Each trailer can be easily towed by a 6-cylinder vehicle.
